[ ISHITA'S PERSPECTIVE]**
*Rudra's Penthouse Living Room | Afternoon*
It's been a perfect transition. Rudra is totally fine now, just a little scar on his head and a faint one on his ribs-tiny badges of honor from the war he fought for us.
Today, his two best friends are visiting. Veer, who is my friend Aditi's fiancé, and knows everything. And Shiv, who just flew in from America, oblivious to the emotional hurricane he's currently sitting in the middle of.
I was sitting beside him, my legs folded on the plush couch, a boring business file open in my lap, pretending to read-but in reality, my eyes kept darting to him.
He was back to his cold, unreadable mask. Sharp suit, sharp eyes, that ruthless business tycoon aura wrapped tightly around him like second skin. *But only in front of them.*
Because the moment our fingers brushed behind the couch cushions, the mask momentarily failed.
He squeezed mine gently, a tiny spark of warmth in the corporate chill.
My lips twitched into a suppressed smile.
Shiv-one of Rudra's oldest friends-laughed loudly over something Veer said, then smirked and elbowed Rudra.
**Shiv:** **"Man, you still haven't changed, huh? Same stone-faced Rudra Singh Rathore. No girls. No drama. No love. Straight work and war. You're the last rock standing, mate!"**
I nearly choked on my own breath, fighting the urge to stand up and shout, *"He cuddles me to sleep and begs for kisses when I bring him soup!"*
I saw Rudra glance at me for the briefest second. I raised one eyebrow-*go on, tell them the truth.*
And he... *smirked*. That secret smirk only I knew. The one that said, *"Oh sweetheart, if only they knew who owns my soul."*
Veer chuckled beside Shiv, trying to play it cool, but I noticed the side-eyes he kept throwing at me and Rudra. He was fighting a serious internal battle not to expose the decade-long, tragic love story he'd just witnessed the reunion of. *He knew everything.*
**Veer:** **"I actually came to give this,"** Veer said, pulling out the elegant red and gold envelope. **"Wedding invitation. Aditi and I... finally getting married next month."**
I smiled warmly and took it with both hands.
**Ishita:** **"I still can't believe you're marrying my childhood friend. Aditi would've killed me if I missed this."**
Shiv leaned back, eyes wide.
**Shiv:** **"Wait... *your* childhood friend? *How* does this world stay so small, Rudra? Is she one of your business contacts, too?"**
Rudra's hand subtly slid from behind the cushion to rest firmly on my lower back, hidden by my flowy top. **My spine tingled.** It was the definition of silent possession.
**Rudra:** (He said casually, sipping his drink like he wasn't touching me possessively.) **"This city is smaller than it looks, Shiv. Fate likes keeping certain people close. It's unavoidable."**
I looked at him-his jaw sharp, his voice cold-and yet I knew his touch was *burning* with emotion. The love. The obsession. The unspoken fire he reserved only for me.
And that's when Shiv blurted-
**Shiv:** **"Still can't believe you never fell in love, Rudra. No college crush, no one-night regret? Man, you're the last rock standing."**
I saw Rudra's lips twitch again. Then he said softly, with deliberate calm-
**Rudra:** **"Not everything has to be loud to be real, Shiv. Sometimes the quiet truths are the ones that save you."**
Veer *froze*. I noticed it. That sentence was *not* the cold, heartless Rudra Singh Rathore Shiv knew.
Shiv laughed awkwardly, confused.
**Shiv:** **"Since when did you get philosophical, old man?"**
I played it off, smiling sweetly.
**Ishita:** **"Maybe age is softening even the hardest rocks, Shiv. Rudra is clearly spending too much time alone thinking deep thoughts."**
Rudra turned his face toward me slightly-*only slightly*-and whispered under his breath, so close only I could hear-
**Rudra:** **"You didn't soften me, **Jaan**... You broke me. Rebuilt me. And now I'm yours. All yours. And only you get the soft answers."**
My cheeks flushed. I turned away quickly, pretending to reread the invitation, needing a moment to breathe after that low-voiced confession.

[RUDRA'S PERSPECTIVE]**
They still think I'm the same. Emotionless. Calculated. Untouchable.
It's almost funny, the irony twisting Shiv's words.
I *let them* see the mask. Because only **she** deserves to know the man behind it. The man who nearly died because he couldn't live without her.
I tightened my grip on her back, my thumb tracing small, possessive circles on her skin. She was warm, alive, and sitting right next to me. That was my universe.
**Rudra:** (I watched Veer catch the weight of my words.) **"I'm happy for you, Veer. You and Aditi deserve it. Love is complicated, but essential."**
**Shiv:** **"Love? Rudra, are you ill? You've never used the word 'essential' with anything that wasn't a spreadsheet."**
**Rudra:** (I leaned slightly toward Shiv, maintaining the casual facade.) **"Some priorities change when you realize what truly matters. Survival is essential. And sometimes, one person becomes your entire survival plan."**
I saw how Ishita smiled without even looking at me. She *knew*. She always does.
This woman didn't just enter my world. She *took it over*.
And while Shiv talked nonsense, while the penthouse buzzed with casual laughter and old stories, I leaned slightly and whispered to her-
**Rudra:** **"You're the only thing real in this world, **Jaan**. When we're ready, they'll all know... but for now, you're my sweetest, fiercest secret."**
She glanced at me, her brown eyes shining with unshed emotion.
**Ishita:** **"I like being your secret, Rudra. It means the mask only drops for me."**
That soft blush on her cheeks... that sparkle in her eyes... God, I'd burn down kingdoms to protect it.
**Rudra:** **"Precisely. Now hand me that invitation. I need to make sure my calendar is clear for my future sister-in-law's big day."** I said, the final words a perfectly natural corporate statement, while my hand remained firmly on my secret queen's back.
As soon as Ishita disappeared into the kitchen, the scent of her still lingering in the air, I dropped the mask. The time for secrets was over.
Shiv was still talking about random business deals when I cut him off smoothly, my eyes fixed on the spot where she'd just stood.
**Rudra:** **"She's mine."**
Shiv blinked. **"What?"**
I looked him dead in the eyes, my voice low and heavy, full of the weight of the last four years.
**Rudra:** **"Ishita. She's mine. For the last four years. I've loved her every damn second. Even when she hated me. Even when I broke her heart."**
His jaw quite literally *dropped*. Veer, meanwhile, was meticulously studying the ceiling.
**Shiv:** **"Wait, wait, wait-*what?!* You? Rudra Singh Rathore? *In love?!* You're joking, right? This is a prank for the camera, isn't it?"**
**Rudra:** (I gave a slight smirk, cool and slow, the kind that used to mean danger, but now meant one thing: *her*.) **"Yes. With her. And I'd burn this world down if it tried to take her from me, Shiv. Don't ever forget that."**
Shiv stood up, looking like he might combust from disbelief.
**Shiv:** **"BRO. Are you on something?! You *used* to say 'emotions are distractions,' 'love is weakness,' 'only fools fall in love'... and now-*this*?! Who *is* this girl?! What did she even *do* to you?!"**
I didn't answer. I didn't need to. The look in my eyes spoke volumes. She didn't *do* anything. She just *was*. And that was enough to destroy everything I thought I knew.
**Shiv:** **"You're still the same in front of the world! This cold, controlled beast... but for her, dude-*you're a total pookie!* What is happening?!"**
I let out a soft chuckle. **"I know. It's called being hopelessly, ridiculously in love, Shiv."**
Right then, the scent of vanilla and coffee hit me. I knew she was back. Even before she entered the room, I *felt* her.
And the moment she did walk in, holding that innocent little coffee cup, I stood.
Without a second thought, I took her hand and pulled her gently toward me.
**Rudra:** (I whispered, my lips near her ear.) **"Come here, **Jaan**. Time to face the music."**
Her eyes widened in surprise, confused by the sudden attention. I made her sit beside me on the couch-*not beside me*, *with* me. One arm wrapped firmly around her bare waist, tugging her into my side. My other hand rested on her thigh protectively.
She looked up at me, brows slightly raised, silently asking, *what's going on?*
I dipped my head low, lips near her ear, and whispered-
**Rudra:** **"I told Shiv. The secret is out."**
Her lips parted, but before she could say anything, Shiv exploded again.
**Shiv:** **"You didn't just tell me, bro! You *dropped a nuclear bomb*! Ishita, WHAT did you do to him?! He used to be the scariest guy in all of delhi. Now look at him-cuddling you like a Bollywood hero who just found his lost love!"**

[ISHITA'S PERSPECTIVE]**
I walked back into the living room with the coffee tray in my hand, adjusting my crop top slightly. I could still feel the heat of Rudra's touch on my waist from earlier.
The moment I stepped inside, I *knew* something was off. Shiv's face was red with shock. Veer was awkwardly quiet, hiding a huge, knowing grin. And Rudra... he looked smug. Too smug.
**Ishita:** **"Ru-what are you doing?"** I whispered, eyes darting to Shiv.
He didn't answer. Just pulled me close and made me sit on his lap, his strong arm wrapping tight around my waist like a seatbelt.
And when he whispered ***"I told Shiv"***, my entire body went stiff.
**Ishita:** **"You WHAT? Are you serious?!"**
But then I heard Shiv, losing his mind in the background.
**Shiv:** **"You broke RUDRA SINGH RATHORE, Ishita! How?! HOW?! You're like... tiny! He listens to you. He obeys you. *He worships you*. I've never seen him like this. You turned a lion into a lovesick puppy."**
I buried my face in my hand, cheeks hot with embarrassment and overwhelming affection.
**Ishita:** **"Oh God... Shiv-please-stop. Veer, say something!"**
Veer just shrugged, trying to keep a straight face. **Veer:** **"What can I say, Ishita? Rudra's just finally admitting the truth. It was a long time coming."**
Rudra laughed under his breath, rubbing small circles on my back, enjoying every second of my flustered state.
**Rudra:** **"Let him react. They all have to know one day. And I won't hide you anymore, **Jaan**."**
He looked down at me, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.
**Rudra:** **"You're mine. And now, they all know."** He winked at Shiv. **"And no, she's not a one-night stand. She's my forever. Get used to it, Shiv."**
**Ishita:** (I looked up at Rudra, a mixture of awe and exasperation.) **"You are going to owe me so many fancy dinners for this public announcement, Mr. Rathore. My reputation is ruined!"**
**Rudra:** **"I'll buy you the whole restaurant, my love. Just don't move. I like the view from here."**
The initial shock of Rudra's confession had faded into sheer, unapologetic comedy. Shiv had moved past the existential crisis and was now in full-blown, storytelling mode, his American accent making the dramatic parts even funnier.
**They all three friends talked a lot**, mostly at Rudra's expense. **They told me about their school stories**-tales of boarding school mischief, failed attempts at skipping class, and disastrous dates.
**I laughed in his arms**, tucked securely against Rudra's side, completely forgetting I was supposed to be maintaining some semblance of formality. **Shiv is really funny!**
**Ishita** (Inner Monologue): *I thought only Veer was because I knew him much because of Aditi. But Shiv, god! He's a total stand-up comedian wrapped in a fancy suit!*
**Shiv:** **"...And then, Rudra, The Great Emotionless Ruler, decided he needed to impress the literature professor-the one with the massive specs-by reading a romantic poem. Right? Tell her, Rudra! What was your opening line?"**
Rudra, who still had that smug, happy look on his face, gently pulled a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.
**Rudra:** **"Don't encourage him, Ishiti. He's exaggerating."**
**Veer:** **"Exaggerating? He nearly set the library on fire with his sheer awkwardness! Tell her the line, Rudra! It's history!"**
Rudra rolled his eyes, but a tiny, unwilling smile played on his lips.
**Rudra:** **"Fine. I said, 'My love is like a freshly audited balance sheet-stable, predictable, and utterly devoid of fun.' I was trying to be witty."**
**Ishita:** (I threw my head back and laughed so hard I nearly bumped my nose on his chin.) **"OH MY GOD! Rudra! You really said that? No wonder you stayed single for so long! You're the least romantic person ever!"**
**Rudra:** (He looked deeply offended, tightening his arm around me.) **"Hey! I am extremely romantic now! I just bought you a whole restaurant for dinner, didn't I? I'm improving!"**
**Shiv:** **"No, bro, you bought her a *reservation*. The only thing you buy outright is a multi-national conglomerate. But wait, here's the kicker! The professor looked at him and said, 'Rathore, your poetry is as cold as your father's investment strategy.' We didn't let him live that down for two years!"**
**Ishita:** **"That's savage! Oh, Ru, I love your friends! This is the best story time ever!"**
**Rudra:** (He kissed the top of my head dramatically.) **"I'm glad you're enjoying it, **Jaan**. But if you keep laughing this hard, I'm going to assume you prefer Shiv to me. He is, after all, currently standing and I am sitting."**
**Ishita:** **"Aww, is the big bad billionaire prince getting jealous of a funny story? Don't worry, Ru. Shiv is fun, but he doesn't feel like home."** I squeezed him tightly.
**Veer:** **"That's true, Shiv. Rudra might be boring, but he's the only one who remembers the exact temperature his green tea needs to be."**
**Shiv:** **"Ha! See, Ishita? Predictable. That's his comfort zone. Rudra, seriously, you need to loosen up. You need to do something impulsive! Right now! Prove us wrong!"**
Rudra looked at me, a dangerous glint entering his eyes-the same glint I saw when he made a risky trade or decided to kiss me suddenly.
**Rudra:** **"Impulsive? Done."**
He reached up, untied the knot on his expensive silk tie, and, with a swift motion, wrapped the tie around my wrist, connecting us.
**Rudra:** **"There. Now I have physically tied myself to the only woman who matters. That's my impulse for the day. Beat that, Shiv."**
**Ishita:** (I stared at the silk tie connecting my wrist to the arm resting on the sofa, blushing furiously, but melting inside.) **"Rudra! You're ridiculous!"**
**Shiv:** (He stared, then shook his head in bewildered respect.) **"Okay, I stand corrected. He's not boring. He's just aggressively possessive. That's actually kinda romantic, in a *Rudra Singh Rathore* kind of way."**
Finally, the great story time session ended, and **they all three friends moved to the dining table to have lunch.** Rudra still hadn't removed the tie connecting my wrist to the sofa, but I slipped it off once we got to the table, smiling secretly at the absurdity of his possessiveness.
Rudra's staff had prepared an elaborate lunch, but my internal alarm clock was screaming. I had to leave now to make it look like I was actually working.
**Ishita:** (I placed my hands on the table, trying to look apologetic.) **"I'm so sorry, guys, I can't join you for lunch. I have to go to my studio now."**
Rudra's face immediately fell, his eyes dark with disappointment, but he didn't argue in front of his friends. He just gave my hand a quick, hard squeeze under the table.
**Veer:** **"Yeah, go handle your artist duties, Ishita, but please, for God's sake, take days off during my and Aditi's wedding. Otherwise, she will kill me-and then you, for enabling me!"** Veer pleaded, making a funny gesture of being choked.
**Ishita:** (I laughed, shaking my head.) **"Yeah, I knew my friend more than you, Veer. She already has weapons prepared, probably hidden in her makeup kit."**
**Ishita:** **"Don't worry, I won't miss a thing. And for your information, I am going to my studio only to do her work there. She needs to finalize some designs for the reception lehenga, and she's too busy trying to manage your life to concentrate."**
**Shiv:** (He leaned forward, intrigued.) **"Wait, you're doing Aditi's makeup and styling? That's so cool! Rudra, your girlfriend is an actual professional!"**
Rudra's cold mask softened instantly at the praise, his eyes gleaming with pride as he looked at me.
**Rudra:** **"She's the best in the city, Shiv. Only the best for my future sister-in-law."**
**Ishita:** (I felt my cheeks warm, grabbing my handbag.) **"Okay, that's my cue to leave before the flattery gets too much. I'll see you later, Ru."**
I bent down quickly and gave Rudra a brief, firm kiss on the cheek, ignoring the amused stares of his friends. It was a quick, defiant claim.
**Rudra:** (He caught my hand, his voice dropping to that husky whisper only meant for me.) **"Be careful. Text me the minute you get there. And don't take any clients. Just Aditi's work. Understand?"**
**Ishita:** **"Understood, General. Now behave and eat your vegetables. Bye, guys! See you later, Shiv!"**
I hurried out before Rudra could pull me back onto his lap again. The thought of that cold, powerful man sitting at the head of his table, missing me already, brought a dizzying smile to my face.

[ RUDRA'S PERSPECTIVE]
I watched her hurried exit, the small, firm kiss on my cheek still tingling, and her retreating figure vanishing past the hallway. I swore, the air quality in the room instantly dropped by 50%.
**Rudra:** (Inner Monologue): *Why did I allow her to go? I should have just had Laksh bring Aditi here.*
I sighed, picking up my fork, trying to look preoccupied with the artisanal salad.
**Shiv:** (He leaned across the table, his voice low, but vibrating with amusement.) **"Bro, what was that? The kiss, the quick exit, the absolute *fear* in your eyes when she left? You look like a baby separated from his favorite blanket!"**
**Veer:** (Veer calmly took a bite of his food, thoroughly enjoying the show.) **"That's called dependency, Shiv. Rudra finally found something he can't control, and he's hooked."**
**Rudra:** (I shot Veer a glare that used to make grown men sweat, but Veer just winked.) **"I am not dependent. I am simply ensuring the safety of my partner and prioritizing her well-being, which contributes to mine."**
**Shiv:** **"Yeah, yeah, we know the corporate jargon, Captain Cold. But you literally just ordered her, 'Don't take any clients, just Aditi's work,' like you own her schedule! You own a shipping fleet, not a makeup artist's calendar!"**
**Rudra:** (I fixed my tie, regaining some composure.) **"I simply offered guidance based on her current workload. It's efficient management."**
**Veer:** **"Efficient management? She was worried about your broken ribs ten minutes ago, and now you're worried about her *workload*? Just admit you hate when she's not around, Rudra."**
**Rudra:** (My lips twitched. It was pointless to lie to Veer, but Shiv was enjoying the shock far too much.) **"Fine. I miss her. She is... distracting. This house is too quiet without her telling me what not to do."**
**Shiv:** **"Quiet? Bro, you lived here alone for ten years! You *paid* people to be quiet! And now you miss being yelled at? The love bug hasn't just bitten you, Rudra; it's built a condo in your heart and is charging you rent!"**
**Rudra:** **"Shut up and eat, Shiv. Or I'll sell the company you just invested in."**
**Shiv:** (He gasped dramatically.) **"Threatening your investors? Now *that's* the Rudra I know! But seriously, man, why the huge secret for four years? Why did she leave in the first place? And why is she letting you get away with this possessive nonsense now?"**
**Veer:** (Veer interrupted, sensing the danger in the air.) **"Slow down, Shiv. That's a long story. Let's just say Rudra messed up, got hurt, and Ishita came back to patch up the idiot. And now, she's the boss."**
**Rudra:** (I looked at Veer, a faint, genuine smile replacing the coldness.) **"Veer is correct. She is the boss. And she's the only one who doesn't see me as a ruthless monster. She sees... Ru."**
**Shiv:** **"Ru? You have a nickname? Oh my god. I'm calling you Ru from now on. Ru, pass the butter. Ru, how's your little forehead scar doing?"**
**Rudra:** **"Try it, Shiv. Just try it."** I warned, but there was no real malice in my voice. They were my brothers, and for the first time, they were seeing the real me-the one who was finally, gloriously, happy.

[ISHITA'S PERSPECTIVE]**
*My Home | Afternoon*
It was the next day, and my mind was buzzing with excitement-partially for Aditi's wedding festivities, and mostly because I'd be seeing Rudra again.
I was folding one of Aditi's vibrant yellow *lehengas* when my phone buzzed on the bed. A message from *him*.
**Rudra:** **"Don't forget to pack your sunscreen. And eat properly. You'll be outdoors all day tomorrow. I know you get cranky when you skip meals. 😏"**
I rolled my eyes at the message and smiled like an idiot, pressing the phone to my chest.
**Ishita** (Inner Monologue): *God, him. The Rudra Singh Rathore.*
To the world-he's a ruthless, terrifying, cold billionaire tycoon with a gym-sculpted body like a freaking Greek god. 6'3 of pure command and dominance.
To me? He's *my Ru*. The man who reminds me to drink water, who holds my heels in his hands when my feet ache, who watches me sleep like I'm some sort of miracle.
I tucked my phone under the pillow just as my **bhabhi** (sister-in-law) walked in, rubbing her four-month baby bump gently. She looked at me, then the chaos of open bags and dresses, and her eyes sparkled with knowing curiosity.
**Bhabhi:** **"You've been glowing lately, Ishu. More than me, and I'm the pregnant one who is supposed to have the inner light!"**
I laughed softly.
**Ishita:** **"It's probably the highlighter, bhabhi. I *am* the country's No.1 makeup artist, after all. Professional tricks."**
She walked closer and sat on the edge of the bed, her gaze piercing through my casual lie.
**Bhabhi:** **"No, no. This isn't makeup glow, my little sister. This is... 'someone-is-in-love' glow. Your eyes are too soft, Ishu. Your smile has lost that guarded edge."**
My hands froze while arranging the brushes in my makeup kit. She walked closer and sat on the edge of the bed, watching me like she was reading my soul.
**Bhabhi:** **"You can tell me, Ishu. I'm not Maa; I won't lecture you. Just tell me."**
I looked at her... and for the first time in so long, I *didn't* want to hide it from her, the person I trusted most in my family.
**Ishita:** **"There's someone, bhabhi,"** I whispered, the confession feeling massive and electric.
**Bhabhi:** **"Oh?"** She leaned in, eyes wide and excited, pulling me into the secret world I lived in.
**Ishita:** **"He's... everything the world warns you about. Cold, ruthless, guarded, too rich for emotions. The world knows him as a beast... a monster."**
**Bhabhi:** **"And you?"** she prompted softly.
**Ishita:** **"I know him as the man who'd skip meetings just to make sure I eat lunch on time... the man who holds my hand in his sleep like I'm the only thing anchoring him to this world... the man who remembers every damn thing I say without pretending to listen."**
Her smile widened like the sunrise.
**Bhabhi:** **"Oh, my god, Ishu! That sounds like something straight out of a novel! What's his name?"**
**Ishita:** **"Rudra. Rudra Singh Rathore."**
She gasped, eyes bulging, putting a hand to her chest.
**Bhabhi:** ***"The* Rudra Singh Rathore? Like... top 3 richest men in the world? The one who controls half the business world? The one whose photo always looks like he's planning global domination? *That* Rudra?!"**
I chuckled shyly, nodding.
**Ishita:** **"Yes. But... promise me, bhabhi. You won't tell anyone. Not Maa, not Bhai, not even your friends. He wants to keep it quiet until he's ready to face the world with me."**
**Bhabhi:** **"I swear on this little one,"** she said, rubbing her baby bump solemnly. **"But Ishu, I'm so happy for you. You deserve someone who looks at you like you're made of magic. And if *he* is that someone, despite the terrifying reputation... I hope the world finds out soon, because you two deserve happiness."**
I hugged her tight, head on her shoulder, eyes watering slightly, finally letting go of some of the pressure.
**Ishita:** **"One day, bhabhi. When the time is right. But knowing you know... that helps so much."**
She gently patted my head and kissed my forehead.
**Bhabhi:** **"Now go pack fast. Tomorrow's *Haldi* ceremony. You're going to be running around like a tornado, trying to control Aditi's excitement."**
I smiled through my full heart, feeling lighter than I had in years. **Ishita:** **"I know. Wish me luck! And please, pray that Rudra doesn't try to crash the Haldi ceremony in a helicopter just to see me!"**
