lamba lamba ghunghat

๐Ÿ’– Ishita's Perspective

The grand day of the engagement had finally arrived, and the entire mansion was alive with vibrant energy. Marigold garlands, delicate white mogra drapes, and shimmering crystal chandeliers were being hung across the palace gardens under Akshat and Vardaan's strict supervision.

Meanwhile, inside my private vanity and makeup studio within the mansion, it was absolute, glorious madness!

All the women of the house had gathered in my studio to get ready. The room smelled of sweet floral perfumes, hairsprays, and fresh flowers. Reet was hovering around checking final outfit stitches, Dhristi bhabhi was helping Siya Maa and Choti Maa set their heavy dupattas, and Ahana was busy picking matching bangles while gossiping nonstop.

And where was I? Standing in front of the main illuminated vanity mirror, holding a set of luxury makeup brushes, completely engrossed in my work.

As the eldest daughter-in-law and a professional artist, my top priority today was Avni. She sat in the central reclining chair, looking like an absolute dream in her emerald green and gold embroidered lehenga. She was a bit nervous, her small hands resting on her lap, but I was carefully blending a soft, radiant base on her skin, ensuring she looked like an absolute goddess without feeling any heavy makeup weight.

"Bhabhi..." Avni whispered nervously, looking at me through the mirror as I gently dusted a touch of champagne highlighter onto her cheekbones. "Aap subah se kaam kar rahi ho.

Reet bhabhi ready ho gayi, Dhristi bhabhi ready ho gayi, even Maa and Choti Maa are done! Aap kab ready ho ge? Function shuru hone mein bas ek ghanta bacha hai!"

I chuckled softly, setting down my blending sponge to adjust the grand polki maang-tikka on her forehead. "Don't worry about me, Avni. Dulhan ko ready karna mera sabse bada kaam hai aaj. Once your hair and veil are set, I'll only take twenty minutes to get ready!"

"Twenty minutes?!" Ahana gasped from the couch, turning around with her lipstick in hand. "Bhabhi, you're the Badi Bahu! Bhai is going to lose his mind if you aren't down on time looking like a royal Queen!"

"He won't lose his mind," I laughed, spraying a light mist of setting spray over Avni's glowing face. "He knows his wife is a professional. Now look at yourself, Avni!"

Avni looked into the mirror, her breath catching in her throat. Her eyes welled up with tears seeing how ethereal, glowing, and royal she looked. "Bhabhi... it's so beautiful! Thank you so much!"

"No tears! You'll ruin my masterpiece!" I teased, giving her a gentle hug before turning to the rest of the ladies. "Alright, everyone!

Head downstairs to the main hall, the guests are starting to arrive. I'll quickly slip into my saree and meet you all out in the garden!"

As Siya Maa, Choti Maa, Dhristi, Reet, Ahana, and a radiant Avni walked out of the studio toward the grand courtyard, I let out a long breath of satisfaction. I looked at the wall clock-thirty minutes until the formal ceremony began.

My own outfit-a breathtaking, midnight-blue silk saree woven with intricate silver work----- was hanging on the mannequin in the corner. My hair was still tied in a messy work bun, and my face had zero makeup on, but I wasn't panicked at all.

Just as I untied my hair, the studio door opened softly behind me. I turned around to see Rudra stepping into the room.

He looked devastatingly handsome, dressed in a tailored, royal coat suit with sharp silver buttons that perfectly matched the fabric of my saree. His ocean-blue eyes took in the empty studio, and then landed on me-standing in my simple cotton suit, messy hair tumbling over my shoulders, looking completely untouched by the glam around me.

His jaw tightened slightly as he slowly locked the door behind him and walked toward me. "Janna... why aren't you ready yet?"

"Bas late aana aur gussa dikhana aapki aadat ban gayi hai, Ru," I teased, giving him a quick, mischievous smile as I rushed past him into the changing nook.

Before he could even process my witty remark, I slipped into my intricate midnight-blue blouse and shapewear, quickly stepping back out into the main studio area.

Rudra stood near the vanity table, looking dangerously handsome in his midnight-blue suit. His ocean-blue eyes darkened as they took in my silhouette, watching me rush to the mirror. Everything for my look was laid out perfectly-the glittering silver-and-diamond necklace with matching drop earrings, the dazzling high heels, and my pre-styled soft hair extensions. The only things I didn't need to put on from scratch were my traditional red bridal chooda and my sacred

Diamond-pendant mangalsutra-they were already resting gracefully against my wrists and collarbones like they did every single day.

"Ru! Don't just stand there looking like a Greek god, help me!" I called out, rapidly dabbing foundation onto my skin with a damp beauty blender. "Drape the saree pleats for me while I finish my eyes!"

A low, amused smirk tugged at his lips. He stepped up right behind me, his large, warm hands picking up the heavily embellished midnight-blue silk saree. "Aap har baar professional artist ki tarah doosron ko ready karti hain, Janna... aur khud aakhri das minute mein mujhe servant banati hain."

"Main Mahrani hoon, aur aap mere Raja," I giggled, swiftly applying a coat of mascara while he carefully gathered the silver zardosi pleats around my waist. "It's your royal duty to assist your Queen!"

Rudra leaned down, his warm breath fanning against my bare shoulder as he tucked the pleats neatly into my shapewear. His hands lingered against my waist for a second too long, his thumb lightly caressing my warm skin.

"Rudra, dhyan kidhar hai aapka? Pleats seedhi rakho!" I scolded playfully through the mirror, applying a soft nude-pink lipstick to my lips.

"Dhyan meri patni par hai," he rumbled in that deep, raspy baritone, his ocean-blue eyes locking onto mine in the reflection. I took sarre from his hands to wear it rest of it back and perfectly .

He reached for the heavy silver-and-diamond choker, stepping closer until his broad chest pressed against my back. He carefully wrapped the necklace around my neck, his cold fingers brushing against my skin, sending a delicious shiver straight down my spine.

As he fastened the clasp, his gaze drifted to my mangalsutra, delicately adjusting the sparkling diamond circles so they rested right above the new diamond choker.

"Ho gaya?" I asked, quickly slipping into my towering silver strappy heels and letting my dark, voluptuous waves cascade over one shoulder.

"Perfect," Rudra whispered, his hands settling firmly on my hips as he pulled me back against his chest. He looked at us in the mirror-a complete, breathtaking picture in matching midnight-blue regal attire.

I turned around in his arms, adjusting the white rose boutonniere on his suit lapel before tapping his cheek lightly. "Chaliye, Mr. Rathore.

Rudra smiled warmly, lacing his fingers through mine-my red chooda clinking against his cuffs-as he led me out of the studio toward the grand engagement ceremony.

Walking down the grand marble staircase with Rudra felt like stepping into a royal dream. My hand was tucked securely into his, the silver zardosi of my midnight-blue saree glinting under the crystal chandeliers. His presence beside me was calm, heavy, and absolute, matching the regal elegance of his suit.

The moment we reached the ground floor, my eyes caught my parents,Mummy and Papa, alongside my brother Ravi and Riva bhabhi and purav .

"Mummy! Papa!" I squealed softly, letting go of Rudra's hand for a second to rush forward. I wrapped my arms around Mummy in a tight, affectionate hug, my red chooda jingling merrily against her crisp silk saree.

"Dhyan se, Ishu," Mummy smiled, patting my back warmly. "Look at you... you look like a real Queen today!"

After exchanging affectionate blessings with Papa and hugging Ravi Bhaiya and Riva, I turned back to the gathering. The palace gardens were beautifully lit, brimming with high-profile guests, aristocrats, and extended Rathor relatives.

I made my rounds, ensuring I greeted every familiar face with respect. For the distant relatives and elder aunts whom I hadn't met before, Dhristi stayed right by my side, gracefully introducing me as the Badi Bahu. I greeted each elder with a soft pranam, ensuring their comfort, checking on their seating, and directing waiters to serve fresh mocktails and warm appetizers. As the eldest daughter-in-law, keeping everyone happy and well-attended was my pride.

"Aap sab sambhal lijiye, main baaki counters check karke aati hoon," I whispered to Dhristi, who gave me an approving, warm smile.

Soon, the sound of traditional shehnai music swelled through the garden, signaling the start of the ceremony. The crowd gathered around the grand, flower-adorned stage. Jay stepped up first, looking dapper but visibly nervous, adjusting his collar every two seconds. A few moments later, Siya Maa and Choti Maa led Avni onto the stage. She looked breathtaking in her emerald green lehenga, her soft cheeks flushing under the warm garden lights.

Rudra stood right behind Jay, resting a firm, reassuring hand on his shoulder, while I stood near Avni, giving her a reassuring wink to calm her fluttering nerves.

"Alright, everyone! The moment we've all been waiting for!" Ahana's lively voice rang out over the microphone.

She walked onto the stage carrying a silver velvet tray decorated with fresh orchids. Resting on the cushion were the two engagement rings-a classic, elegant solitaire for Avni and a sleek, platinum band for Jay.

"Dulhe Raja, fingers crossed!" Ahana teased, holding the tray out between them as the entire family erupted into cheerful applause and clapping.

Jay looked up at Ahana with a mix of relief and mild panic, making the whole crowd chuckle. He took a slow, deep breath, reaching out with a slightly trembling hand to pick up the gleaming diamond solitaire from the velvet tray.

Avni stepped closer, her eyelashes fluttering as she gently offered her left hand. Her cheeks burned bright crimson under the soft spotlight, but the moment Jay slipped the ring onto her finger, a tear of pure, unfiltered joy slipped down her cheek.

The entire garden erupted into loud cheering and thunderous applause.

"Now it's your turn, Avni!" Ahana beamed, nudging her gently.

Avni picked up the platinum band, her fingers steady now. She looked straight into Jay's eyes-eyes that held a universe of devotion, promise, and profound love-and slid the ring onto his finger. The moment it clicked into place, Jay let out a breathless laugh, immediately pulling her into a gentle, protective embrace right there on stage.

Rose petals rained down on them from the upper balconies of the palace as traditional trumpets and drums blared in celebration. Siya Maa and Choti Maa wiped tears of happiness from their eyes, while Uncle and Aunty showered the couple with blessings.

I clapped enthusiastically, my red chooda jingling wildly, a tear of pure happiness sparkling in my own eyes.

Suddenly, a warm, solid presence settled right behind me. A large, warm hand slid around my waist, pulling me back flush against a broad, navy-clad chest. I didn't even need to look up to know it was Rudra. His ocean-blue eyes were fixed on the glowing couple, but his thumb was absently stroking my hip through the silk of my saree.

"Happy, Janna?" he rumbled softly in my ear, his deep baritone cutting through the loud music.

"So happy, Ru," I whispered back, leaning my head against his shoulder. "Look at them... they survived the storm and made it here."

"Because of you," Rudra murmured, pressing a swift, possessive kiss against the crown of my head. "You brought light into this house, Ishi."

Before I could tease him about turning soft, Jay and Avni stepped off the stage, surrounded by friends and family pulling them for photos. The royal engagement was officially sealed, and as the grand dinner counters opened and music filled the night air, I wrapped my arm through Rudra's, ready to celebrate the union of our family.

Rudra looked around the vibrant garden, his sharp, ocean-blue eyes scanning through the bustling crowd of guests, flower decorations, and laughing relatives. He leaned down slightly toward me, his deep baritone rumbling softly near my ear.

"Janna... Kriti aur Saanvi nahi aaye?

"Haa, woh actually Kriti ke college mein kuch important submissions aur exams ka scene tha, isliye Saanvi bhi nahi aai," I explained, adjusting the heavy silk pallu of my midnight-blue saree. "Lekin unhone bola hai ki Haldi aur Mehndi tak pakka aa jayenge!"

He nodded slowly, his expression calm.

"Hmm, ok."

I tilted my head, looking up at his handsome face with a suspicious, playful glint in my brown eyes. "Kyu? Aap unke baare mein itna kyu puch rahe ho, Patidev?"

Rudra chuckled softly, a low, captivating sound that vibrated right against my back as his hand rested comfortably on my waist.

"Nothing, Janna. Just wanted to know.

Otherwise, those two will jump on me later saying, 'Jiju aap toh badal gaye, hume personal invite bhi nahi kiya!'"

I burst out laughing, my red chooda jingling musically as I swatted his chest lightly.

"Waise... haaa! It is your fault! Aapne unhe personally call kyu nahi kiya, hain? Unka demand toh banta hai!"

"Achha? Mera fault hai?" Rudra raised an eyebrow, a dangerously attractive smirk playing on his lips as he pulled me a fraction closer. "Thik hai, Mahrani ji. I will personally call my saalis tomorrow and handle their drama. Happy?"

"Very happy, my King," I giggled, resting my head against his shoulder as we turned back to watch Jay and Avni cut their grand engagement cake amidst loud cheers, fireworks, and the warm, golden glow of Mansion

The moment the grand engagement cake was cut, the DJ blasted the speakers with high-octane Punjabi beats, turning the palace garden into a dazzling dance floor.

I looked around and noticed a dense crowd forming around Jay and Avni. Relatives, friends, and guests were swarming them with congratulations, completely overwhelming the poor couple. Knowing Avni was two months pregnant, I knew she needed a break from standing in heavy heels and greeting endless lines of people-and she definitely couldn't join a chaotic dance floor.

A mischievous spark lit up in my eyes. I nudged Dhristi bhabhi to take Avni toward the lounge seating, and then I marched straight into the crowd, grabbed a thoroughly confused Jay by his hand, and dragged him right into the middle of the empty dance floor!

Avni burst out laughing, clapping her hands happily from her plush couch, while the rest of the family cheered. Everyone in the Rathor house knew that this dever-bhabhi duo was completely unhinged when music played-there was never a dull moment when Jay and I took the stage!

As the iconic intro beats of "tera rang balle baale "

blared through the massive speakers, Jay grinned, immediately getting into character. He raised his hands, doing energetic bhangra steps around me as he sang along at the top of his lungs:

"Tera rang balle balle!

Teri chaal balle balle!

Tera roop balle balle!

Tere gaal balle balle!

Dekha tujhe to mujhe pyar ho gaya...

Tere khayaalon mein yeh dil kho gaya!"

I dramatically crossed my arms, matching his high energy, flicking my long wavy hair over my shoulder and swirling my midnight-blue silk saree as I teased him back, my red chooda clinking loudly with every sharp step:

"O naiyon naiyon! O naiyon naiyon!

Naiyon naiyon mainu dil tera naiyon chaahida!

O naiyon naiyon mainu dil tera naiyon chaahida!

Naiyon chaahida!

Ik tu hi mere naal naiyon naiyon janchda!

Ik tu hi mere naal naiyon naiyon janchda!"

Jay dramatically clutched his heart, pouting at my rejection, then leaned in with a funny pleading face, pointing at me as he hit the next line:

"Dhol jaani! Dhol jaani!

Mere paas aa, teri meherbani!"

I flipped my hands dismissively, strutting in a circle around him with an exaggerated eye-roll that made Akshat and Vardaan double over laughing on the sidelines:

"Jhoot bol na! Jhoot bol na!

Neeyat mein hai teri beimaani!"

Jay didn't back down. He spun me around by my fingertips, grabbing his coat lapels, doing full-on dramatic Bollywood steps, his voice echoing loudly over the crowd:

"O kurti teri chhentdi, dupatta tera leheriya!

O kurti teri chhentdi, dupatta tera leheriya!

Jay pointed dramatically at me, winking at the crowd as he struck a pose and shouted out the line:

"Hindustani rani banja... raja ki tu goriya!"

Before he could pull me into another round of crazy steps, my eyes caught Bebe sitting near Siya Maa, smiling and clapping along to the beat. A brilliant idea clicked in my head. Bebe is a proud Punjaban at heart-there was no way I was going to let her just sit there watching us!

I winked at Jay, leaving him mid-step, and trotted gracefully over to Bebe. I took her soft hands in mine, gently nudging her up from her seat. Bebe laughed, shaking her head, but the lively Punjabi music was far too irresistible. She stood up, adjusting her dupatta, and stepped onto the middle of the dance floor right beside me!

The entire crowd hooted and cheered as Bebe started doing iconic Punjabi giddha steps, her face glowing with pure joy. I matched her rhythm perfectly, swirling my midnight-blue saree as we sang together:

"Maein kudi punjab di, mera resham da rumaal ve!

Maein kudi punjab di, mera resham da rumaal ve!

Zindagi bhar bhoolega na, kar doongi vo haal ve!"

Jay dramatically fell to his knees in front of us, placing his hands over his chest as he poured his heart out into the next lines, turning the whole scene into a theatrical spectacle:

"O naiyon naiyon! O naiyon naiyon!

Naiyon naiyon tere bin dil naiyon lagda!

O naiyon naiyon tere bin dil naiyon lagda!

Naiyon naiyon tere bin dil naiyon lagda!

Naiyon lagda... naiyon lagda!

Tujhe dekhte hi haye, dil mera nachda!

Tujhe dekhte hi haye, dil mera nachda!"

Bebe burst out laughing, giving Jay a loving pat on his shoulder, while I strutted past him with an exaggerated, sassy flick of my hand, shaking my head at his theatrical madness:

"Na dekh challe challe, dil phenk challe challe!

Mujhe chhod challe challe, na chhedh challe challe!"

I danced my way over to Siya Maa, taking her hand and gesturing dramatically toward Jay, shaking my head as if to tell her that her youngest son had officially lost his mind on the dance floor!

"Paagal deewana dildaar ho gaya!

Isko sambhaalo, ye bekaar ho gaya!"

Siya Maa laughed so hard tears came to her eyes, swatting my arm affectionately as Jay jumped back up, doing energetic bhangra steps around Akshat and Vardaan, who joined in clapping to his beat:

"Mera yaar balle balle, dildaar balle balle!

Inkaar balle balle, iqraar balle balle!

Dekha tujhe to mujhe pyar ho gaya...

Tere khayaalon mein ye dil kho gaya!"

I spun around one last time, my silver-and-diamond necklace sparkling under the garden lights, joining Jay in the middle of the stage as we sang the final chorus together, our voices ringing over the loud music:

"O naiyon naiyon! O naiyon naiyon!

O naiyon naiyon!

Naiyon naiyon mainu dil tera naiyon chaahida!

O naiyon naiyon mainu dil tera naiyon chaahida!"

Jay hit his final dramatic pose, matching my rejection line with his energetic refrain:

"Naiyon naiyon, tere bin dil naiyon lagda!

Naiyon lagda, tujhe dekhte hi haye dil mera nachda!

O naiyon naiyon mainu dil tera naiyon chaahida!

Tujhe dekhte hi haye, dil mera nachda!"

We struck our final pose together-Jay dramatically holding his chest, and me crossing my arms with a triumphant grin-as the song ended on a soaring high note!

The entire garden exploded into wild applause, whistles, and cheers. Avni was laughing so hard she was wiping tears from her eyes, Bebe was beaming with pride, and when I looked over at the edge of the dance floor, my eyes landed on Rudra.

He was standing there leaning against a marble pillar, his hands in his trouser pockets, watching me with a warm, utterly hopeless smirk-completely mesmerized by his wild, unstoppable Queen.

Before Jay and I could even catch our breath from our Naiyon Naiyon performance, Ahana sprinted over to the DJ booth with a mischievous grin plastered across her face.

She whispered something into the DJ's ear, pointing right at us.

The moment the loud, heavy Haryanvi beats of "Ghoom Ghagra / Lamba Lamba Ghunghat" exploded through the massive garden speakers, Jay froze for a split second. Then, he let out a loud, hysterical laugh, clutching his stomach as he looked at me.

We both instantly realized why Ahana had picked this song-it was a hilarious, direct jab at the dramatic scene kaveri Bua had created just days ago about me wearing a ghunghat!

Jay immediately stepped up to me, raising his hands and imitating the stern posture of an old-fashioned village elder. He pointed at my face, doing hilarious Haryanvi folk steps around me while lip-syncing at the top of his voice:

"Re gaam se gori, yo muh dhakna padega!

Re gaam se gori, yo muh dhakna padega!

Re lamba lamba ghunghat karna padega!

Re lamba lamba ghunghat karna padega!"

The entire family-Akshat, Vardaan, Reet, and Dhristi-burst into loud, uncontrollable laughter, instantly catching the hilarious inside joke.

I didn't hold back for a single second. I dramatically put my hands on my hips, tossing my wavy hair over my shoulder and strutting away from him with absolute sass, pointing to my face with a diva-like smirk:

"Main padhi likhi chhori, nyu ghut-ghut maru na!

Main padhi likhi chhori, nyu ghut-ghut maru na!

Ji lamba lamba ghunghat main toh karu na!

Ji lamba lamba ghunghat main toh karu na!"

Jay quickly ran up in front of me, joining his hands in a funny, pleading gesture, pretending to be terrified of the elders watching us:

"O samjho madam ji majboori, gaam mein ghunghat ghana zaroori!"

I dramatically patted my cheek, pointing to my flawless makeup, tilting my head with ultimate royalty as my red chooda jingled loudly in the air:

"Makeup laari su main mehanga, konya hove ya zid poori!"

Jay put his hands over his mouth in fake horror, bending down and dramatically pointing toward where kaveri Bua was sitting with a stiff, jaw-dropped expression:

"O samjho madam ji majboori, gaam mein ghunghat ghana zaroori!"

I flipped my hands dismissively, strutting in a grand circle around him while highlighting my glowing face:

"Makeup laari su main mehanga, konya hove ya zid poori!"

Jay then grabbed his head with both hands, shaking his head in fake panic as he warned me about the strictly traditional in-laws:

"Saasu ladegi, tera sasura ladega!

Re lamba lamba ghunghat karna padega!

Re lamba lamba ghunghat karna padega!"

By now, Ram Papa and Lakhan Chacha were laughing so hard they were holding their drinks carefully so as not to spill them, while Siya Maa was practically hiding her face behind her saree pallu from laughing too much.

From the corner of my eye, I saw kaveri Bua sitting stiffly on her royal sofa, looking absolutely flabbergasted and red-faced as the whole family celebrated our unapologetic, hilarious response to her narrow-minded rules.

I glanced toward the edge of the stage, where Rudra was standing. The Prince of Rajasthan-who usually maintained a cold, unyielding exterior-was leaning against a pillar with a broad, genuine smile on his face, his ocean-blue eyes sparkling with sheer pride and hopeless love as he watched his Queen turn a toxic situation into an unforgettable night of laughter.

Jay didn't miss a beat. The moment he sang that last line, he reached out, grabbed the heavy silk pallu of my midnight-blue saree, and dramatically draped it all the way down over my face-leaving me completely covered in an exaggerated, oversized ghunghat right in the middle of the dance floor!

The entire garden erupted into wild, uncontrolled laughter. Siya Maa, Choti Maa, and Reet were practically doubled over, and even Akshat Bhaiya had to hold onto a table to steady himself.

"Jay!" I squealed from under the thick silk fabric.

I whipped the pallu off my face, my cheeks burning flushed and my dark curls slightly disheveled. Laughing hysterically, I swatted his shoulder as hard as I could. Jay backed away, holding his hands up in fake surrender, his face red from laughing so hard at his own stunt.

"Aapka ghunghat toh ho gaya, Bhabhi!" Jay wheezed, clutching his stomach as he backed toward Avni's couch. "Ab Bua ji shant ho jayengi!"

"Tumhe toh main baad mein dekhungi, Dulhe Raja!" I laughed, shaking my head as my red chooda jingled loudly in the air.

Stepping off the dance floor, completely out of breath, I caught kaveri Bua's face in the crowd-she looked utterly bewildered, unable to decide whether to be furious or embarrassed, while the rest of the Rathor family treated the moment like the ultimate comedy show.

I walked straight past the cheering relatives, my high heels clicking against the marble path, still giggling softly to myself. But before I could even make it to the drinks lounge to grab a glass of water, a large, warm hand reached out from the shadows near the tall carved pillars.

Rudra's fingers locked firmly around my waist, effortlessly pulling me out of the main pathway and tucking me right against his broad chest, safely hidden behind the grand archway.

"Aap har roz koi naya tamasha karti hain, Janna," Rudra rumbled in his low, raspy baritone, his ocean-blue eyes holding a dangerous, captivating warmth as he looked down at my laughing face.

"Main tamasha karti hoon?" I gasped playfully, resting my palms flat against his navy suit lapels. "Aapne dekha nahi aapke pyare bhai ne kya kiya? He literally pulled my saree pallu over my head!"

"And you let him live?" Rudra raised a sharp, amused eyebrow, his hands tightening possessively around my waist, pulling me so close that not a breath of air remained between us. "If it were anyone else touching your saree, I would have broken their hands. But since it's Jay... I'll let it slide."

"Aww, look at my Patidev being merciful," I teased, reaching up to gently trace his sharp jawline. "Waise... Bua ji ki shakal dekhi aapne?"

A rare, devastatingly handsome smirk broke across Rudra's lips. He bent down, his warm breath brushing against my ear as his lips pressed a lingering, tender kiss right against the sensitive spot beneath my jaw, right over my tiny moles.

"I saw," he whispered, his deep voice sending shivers straight down my spine. "You turned her taunts into a joke for the whole palace to laugh at. My Queen knows exactly how to rule without raising her voice."

I smiled softly, wrapping my arms around his neck, letting the distant music and the sound of our family's laughter fill the starry night as I leaned up to press a sweet, loving kiss against his cheek.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Rudra's Perspective

It was well past two in the morning, but the high-strung energy of the successful engagement ceremony had far from settled.Instead of retiring to our respective suites, all the youngsters had piled into Jay's spacious room.

The room was a chaotic scene of comfortable cushions, discarded suit jackets, and warm laughter. Akshat and Dhristi were leaned up against the foot of the king-sized bed, Vardaan was sitting cross-legged next to Reet while constantly checking on her comfort, and Ahana was sitting near Jay and Avni, eagerly scrolling through the hundreds of photos and videos captured throughout the evening.

I was sitting on the plush carpet near the center of the room, leaning my back comfortably against the base of the velvet sofa. Ishita was settled right between my legs, half-leaning back against my broad chest. Her heavy midnight-blue silk saree was draped softly around us, and her head rested right under my chin, her soft, fragrant curls fanning across my lap.

While everyone chatted and re-lived the funniest moments of the night, Ishita reached up, her delicate fingers unclasping her heavy silver-and-diamond earrings.

Without breaking her stride in the conversation, she reached back and placed the shimmering earring right into my palm. "Ru, pakdo."

I didn't say a word. I simply closed my fingers around the jewelry, placing it carefully on the velvet tray resting on the side table beside us.

"Bhabhi, honestly!" Ahana giggled, showing her phone to the room. "The video of you and Jay doing that Ghunghat dance has already gone viral in the family WhatsApp group! Bua ji's expression in the background is priceless!"

"Mujhe toh lagta hai Bua ji kal subah tak apne kamre se bahar hi nahi aayengi," Vardaan chuckled, gently placing a soft pillow behind Reet's back.

"Aane bhi nahi chahiye," Jay laughed, pulling Avni a little closer on the rug. "Bhabhi killed it today! Pehle Naiyon Naiyon aur phir Haryanvi beats... Bhai, aapne dekha Bhabhi ka attitude?"

Ishita giggled warmly, her body vibrating against mine. She unclasped her heavy silver-and-diamond choker next. Without even looking back, her slender hand reached over her shoulder, placing the cold necklace into my waiting hand. "Lo, Patidev."

I took the choker from her, my thumb lightly caressing the back of her soft neck for a brief second before setting it down safely with the earrings.

"Main toh bas Bua ji ko unki hi bhasha mein jawab de rahi thi," Ishita chirped, looking up at Jay with a playful glint in her brown eyes. "Par tumne jo mera ghunghat kheencha na, Jay... uska hisaab main tumhari Haldi mein poora karungi!"

"Bhabhi, please rehem karo!" Jay whined, raising his hands in fake terror as the entire room erupted into a fresh wave of laughter.

Akshat shook his head, looking over at me with an amused smirk. "Bhai, dekh lo. Aapki wife poore khandaan ko apne ishaaron pe nacha rahi hai, aur aap chupchap unke jewelry holder ka kaam kar raha hai!"

I leaned down slightly, my lips brushing against the shell of Ishita's ear as my arms wrapped comfortably around her waist, pulling her even closer into my chest. Her red chooda clinking softly as she unclasped her bangles and handed those to me as well.

"My wife rules this kingdom, Akshat," I rumbled in my low, smooth baritone, taking the bangles and setting them down, my ocean-blue eyes filled with effortless devotion. "I'm just making sure her crown stays secure."

"Oho! Bhai ka romance toh dekho!" Ahana hooted, throwing a small velvet cushion toward us as Ishita blushed deeply, burying her face into my chest while the entire room filled with warm, affectionate laughter that stretched late into the quiet night.

๐Ÿ’– Ishita's Perspective

The morning sun lit up the grand terrace of Rathor mansion where a sea of bright yellow marigolds and fresh white mogra flowers transformed the open rooftop into a stunning Haldi venue. Everyone was already outside-Kriti and Saanvi had arrived early in the morning and were already gossiping with Ahana, while Veer and Aditi, along with Tanya and shiv , had just walked in to join the rest of the family.

Krishiv and Chaavi can't come because have some important work within there own family so .

I looked absolutely gorgeous in my simple yet elegant vibrant yellow silk saree paired with a printed floral blouse. My hair was styled in soft waves tied loosely at the back, adorned with traditional hathphool and heavy jhumkas. My signature diamond mangalsutra rested over my collarbones, and my wrists jingled with my red bridal chooda alongside my statement blue diamond ring and sparkling bow-embellished heels.

Everyone was outside enjoying the festive vibe, except for my husband-who was still pacing around our bedroom in his gym clothes, phone pressed to his ear!

"Look, Laksh, I need that eternity merge file signed before 2 PM," Rudra commanded into the phone, his baritone cold and authoritative as he paced back and forth.

I marched right up to him, putting my hands on my hips, my silver anklets chiming sharply. "Rudra! Aap abhi tak ready nahi hue?!"

Rudra held up one finger toward me, still looking at his tablet. "Laksh, hold on-"

I snatched the phone straight out of his hand and tapped the end call button without hesitation.

"Janna..." Rudra sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, his ocean-blue eyes looking down at me with mild disbelief.

"Bilkul 'Janna' nahi!" I scolded, my brown eyes flashing with playful authority as I pointed a finger at his chest. "Haldi function shuru hone wala hai! Kriti, Saanvi, Veer, Aditi, Tanya... sab bahar aa chuke hain terrace par! Sab log aapka wait kar rahe hain, aur aap yahan board meetings lead kar rahe ho? Aapko pata bhi hai kitna late ho gaya hai?!"

Rudra took a slow step forward, a small, dangerous smirk playing on his lips as his hands settled firmly onto my waist, pulling me flush against him despite my sharp scolding.

"Scolding your King so early in the morning, Janna?" he rumbled softly, his thumb caressing the bare skin at my waist. "You know... you look breathtaking in yellow."

"Makkhan lagaana band karo, Patidev!" I huffed, trying to suppress the smile breaking on my face as I smoothed down his collar.

"Aap chupchap yeh cream kurta-pajama pehno! In fact, main khud aapko ready karungi, warna aap phir se Laksh ko call laga loge!"

I grabbed his embroidered cream silk kurta set from the bed and shoved it into his chest, pointing toward the changing room with absolute command. Rudra let out a low, deep chuckle, shaking his head in complete surrender to his Queen as he went in to change, leaving me shaking my head with a warm smile.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Rudra's Perspective

I stepped out of the changing room, smoothing down the embroidered sleeves of my ivory silk kurta. The fine gold threadwork sat comfortably against the fabric, but before I could even adjust the collar, my Boni wife marched straight toward me with her hands on her hips.

Even with her towering silver heels on, she barely reached my chest. She looked up at me with those flashing brown eyes, her lips set in a firm, adorable frown.

Knowing the drill, I didn't say a word. I simply leaned down, bending forward until my head was right at her level so she could reach my neck properly.

"Dekha? Itna bhi mushkil nahi tha na phone side rakhna?" Ishita muttered, her soft fingers deftly straightening my collar and smoothing down the lapel of the kurta. Her red chooda clinked softly, the sweet scent of her jasmine perfume washing over me. "Pura khandaan terrace par wait kar raha hai, aur aap-"

Ring! Ring! Ring!

Her phone, lying on the bed, began to buzz loudly for the third time in five minutes.

Ishita let out a sharp sigh of frustration, giving my collar one final, firm tug before straightening up. "Dekhiye! Ab Mummy ka call aa raha hai! Unhe lag raha hoga main abhi tak taiyar nahi hui, jabki main toh kab se aapka wait kar rahi hoon!"

She answered the call, holding the phone to her ear while glaring playfully at me. "Haan Mummy! Bas aa rahe hain... nahi, main toh kab ki ready hoon! Yeh aapke Jamai Raja ko minute-to-minute business calls leni thi... haan, bas niche se lift le rahe hain!"

She hung up, shaking her head as she grabbed her phone. "Aapki wajah se mujhe sabke samne jhoot bolna padta hai, Ru!"

I straightened back up to my full 6'3" height, a dangerous, amused smirk spreading across my face as I watched my 5'3" Queen fussing around the room. I reached out, my large hand wrapping effortlessly around her wrist, pulling her back into my chest before she could take a single step toward the door.

"Mummy ko mera naam lagakar scold karwa diya, Janna?" I rumbled softly in her ear, my thumb caressing the soft skin of her inner wrist. "Aur yeh 'Boni' hone ki wajah se mujhe leaning down pad raha hai, uska compensation kaun dega?"

"Rudra!" she gasped, her cheeks turning bright crimson as she tried to pull away, her silver heels tapping against the floor. "Bahar sab wait kar rahe hain! Koi yahan aane wala hai, chhodiye!"

"Let them wait," I murmured, leaning down again-this time to press a firm, linger kiss right against the sweet spot beneath her jawline. "The King and Queen enter when they are ready."

๐Ÿ’– Ishita's Perspective

"Ajeeb ajeeb time par romance nikalta hai aapke andar se!" I huffed, pushing lightly against his broad chest while trying to keep my face stern-a task made virtually impossible by the heat burning on my cheeks.

Rudra raised a sharp, offended eyebrow, his hand loosening slightly on my wrist as he stared down at me. "What do you mean 'nikalta hai'? Romance ki tanki lag rahi hai kya mere andar?"

"Mujhe kya pata?!" I retorted immediately, tossing my hair over my shoulder with ultimate attitude, my hathphool glinting in the morning light. "Aap hi jaano aapke andar romance ki tanki hai ya petrol pump! Par abhi terrace par poora khandaan humara intezaar kar raha hai!"

I snatched my saree pallu back, giving him a playful, narrowed-eye glare. "Aur yeh jo aapne mujhe 'Boni' bola na? Iska badla toh main baad mein loongi! Haldi mein dekhna aap... aisa rang lagaungi ki Teen Rathor Company ke Co-CEO ko koi pehchan nahi payega!"

Without giving him a chance to respond, I turned around on my sparkling bow heels, my silver anklets chiming in a sharp, sassy rhythm as I marched out of the master suite.

Rudra let out a low, deep chuckle behind me, his heavy, confident footsteps following right on my heels as we made our way toward the grand elevator that led up to the palace terrace.

The moment the elevator doors slid open at the top floor, the sheer wave of energy hit us like a tidal wave. Dhol beats were echoing through the sky, marigold petals were flying everywhere, and the entire terrace was bathed in vibrant shades of yellow, gold, and white.

"Oho! Look who finally decided to show up!" Kriti screamed the second she spotted us, holding a bowl of fresh marigold petals.

"Jiju!" Saanvi cheered, running over alongside Kriti. "Humne socha aapne Bhabhi ko business meeting mein settle kar liya hai! Do ghante se hum terrace par dhoop mein khade hain!"

Rudra smoothly tucked his hands into his kurta pockets, stepping right beside me with the most innocent, unbothered expression on his face. "Blame your sister. She took forty minutes just to decide which heels matched her yellow saree."

"RUDRA!" I gasped, my jaw dropping as I hit his arm in broad daylight. "Aap jhoot bol rahe hain! Main toh kab se ready thi, aap phone par Laksh ko orders de rahe the!"

"Dekha, Rudra ? Bhabhi aap par ilzaam laga rahi hain!" Veer called out, walking over with Aditi and Tanya, holding two large glasses of chilled thandai. "Aditi bhi ghar par aise hi bolti hai-'Veer ki wajah se late ho gaye!' Late-latif hone ka credit hamesha hum patiyon ko hi milta hai!"

"Tum toh beech mein bolo hi mat, Veer!" Aditi scolded, smacking Veer's arm while Tanya burst out laughing. "Ishita is a professional, she is never late! It's definitely Rudra Bhai's fault!"

"Thank you, Aditi!" I said triumphantly, giving Rudra a smug, victorious look. "Dekha? Truth always wins!"

Jay, who was sitting on the grand central wooden swing ready for the haldi

He shouted over the loud dhol beats, "Bhai! Save yourself! Wahan mat khade raho, yeh sab ladkiyan milkar aap par haldi ka attack karne wali hain!"

Before Rudra could even react or take a step backward, Kriti and Saanvi exchanged a evil, conspiratorial glance.

"Target locked, Saanvi!" Kriti giggled.

"Attack!" Saanvi squealed.

Both of my cousin sisters lunged forward, hands dripping with thick, bright yellow turmeric paste, aiming straight for the King of Rajasthan's immaculate ivory silk kurta!

"Ruko tum dono!" Mummy's voice echoed sharply over the dhol beats just as Kriti and Saanvi were about to smear turmeric paste all over Rudra's crisp ivory kurta.

Both girls froze mid-air, their yellow-covered hands hovering inches from Rudra's chest.

"Bua ji!" Kriti pouted, looking back at Mummy with big, innocent eyes. "Hum toh bas Jiju ka swagat kar rahe the!"

"Haan Bua ji, Jiju kitne der se aaye hain, thoda swagat toh banta hai na!" Saanvi added, trying to sound persuasive.

Mummy walked over, holding a traditional thali filled with burning diyas, sweets, and fresh marigold flowers, shaking her head with a smile. "Abhi dulhe ki haldi toh hone do! Jay aur Avni ki rasam shuru hone wali hai, phir tum dono apne Jiju ko jitna rangna hai rang lena. Chalo, pehle rasam dhang se hone do."

Rudra threw a cool, triumphant glance at Kriti and Saanvi, stepping behind me slightly with that unbothered smirk of his. "Listen to your Bua ji, kids."

"Jiju, aap abhi has lo, baad mein dekhte hain aapko!" Saanvi whispered playfully before both girls giggled and ran back to where Reet and Ahana were arranging the floral decor.

The atmosphere on the terrace settled into a beautiful, sacred calm as the auspicious time for the ritual arrived. Jay and Avni were seated together on the grand wooden swing decorated with marigold garlands. Avni looked radiant in her light yellow lehenga, her hand resting subconsciously on her tummy, while Jay looked completely glowing with a handsome, proud smile.

Avni mother and Siya Maa stepped up first to perform the aarti, blessing the young couple. One by one, the family members stepped forward in a traditional, graceful manner to apply the ritual haldi.

Papa ji and Uncle applied a touch of turmeric paste gently on Jay and Avni's cheeks and knees, showering them with blessings and fresh flower petals. Then came Akshat Bhai and Dhristi Bhabhi, who lovingly applied the paste while little Krish ran around throwing marigold petals into the air, making everyone laugh.

"Aapki turn, Ru," I whispered, softly pulling Rudra's hand as we stepped forward together toward the swing.

Rudra took a small portion of the yellow paste on his fingertips. As he bent down toward Jay, his cold, reserved facade softened completely into that gentle, protective elder brother gaze. He applied a touch of haldi on Jay's shoulders and forehead, patting his shoulder firmly.

"Stay happy, bro," Rudra said quietly, his deep voice filled with genuine warmth.

Jay smiled brightly, hugging Rudra around the waist. "Thanks, Bhai."

Next, Rudra stepped over to Avni, applying a light, respectful mark of haldi on her forehead with utmost gentleness, offering his blessings to both her and the little life growing inside her.

I smiled warmly, taking my turn next. I applied the cooling paste to Avni's glowing cheeks, giving her a soft side-hug, and then smeared a good amount on Jay's nose, making him laugh. "Congratulations again, Jay!"

"Bhabhi, aapne toh shuruwat kar di nasal attack ki!" Jay teased, wiping his nose with his sleeve.

"Main toh bas warm-up kar rahi hoon!" I laughed, stepping back beside my husband.

As we moved aside to let Vardaan Bhai, Reet, Ahana, and the rest of the family take their turns for the sweet, traditional blessings, Rudra leaned down close to my ear, his breath warm against my neck.

"Warm-up complete, Janna?" he murmured teasingly. "Because I think those two troublemakers behind us are lining up their next target."

I turned my head slightly, only to see Kriti and Saanvi standing near the large brass haldi bowl, refilling their hands with a sinister grin aimed right at the two of us!

๐Ÿ‘‘ Rudra's Perspective

I stood there with a subtle, smug smirk, keeping a sharp eye on Kriti and Saanvi as they slowly crept closer with a massive brass bowl overflowing with thick, wet yellow haldi. I fully expected them to aim for Jay to finish off the groom, or make a desperate attempt to ruin my cream silk kurta.I even braced myself to step in front of Ishita to block any stray splash.

But I completely miscalculated the pure, unhinged chaos of my saalis.

Without a single word of warning, Kriti and Saanvi lifted the heavy brass bowl together and dumped the entire payload straight over Ishita!

SPLASH!

A thick, golden wave of yellow paste rained down over her from head to toe. It covered her neatly styled dark waves, coated her face, ran down her ears, soaked her floral blouse, and turned her gorgeous vibrant yellow saree into a heavy, dripping yellow mess.

The entire terrace went dead silent for two glorious seconds.

Ishita stood frozen like a statue in her sparkling heels, her hands lifted mid-air, her jaw slightly open in absolute, unadulterated shock.

Then, Jay let out a snort. Within seconds, he burst into a loud, hysterical laugh, falling backward on the wooden swing and slapping his knee. "BHABHI! OH MY GOD, LOOK AT YOU!"

I immediately cleared my throat, quickly turning my face away toward the palace garden view, pressing my hand tightly over my mouth. My shoulders shook violently as I fought with every ounce of my willpower to hide the massive laugh threatening to burst out of my chest. If I laughed now, my life expectancy in this marriage would drop to zero.

Ishita slowly wiped a thick glob of haldi away from her eyelashes, blinking her brown eyes open. She spat out a tiny bit of yellow paste that had gotten onto her lips, her gaze locking onto Kriti and Saanvi, who were already backing away in fake terror.

"Tum dono ki... eesi ki teesi!" Ishita gasped out, her voice dangerously calm before breaking into an absolute war cry.

She didn't care about her heels, her saree, or her diamond rings anymore. Ishita plunged both of her hands straight into the nearest large haldi tub, scooped up two massive handfuls of wet yellow paste, and charged straight at her cousins like an unstoppable whirlwind!

"RUN! BHABHI IS IN BERSERKER MODE!" Saanvi shrieked, sprinting toward the dhol players.

"Jiju, save us!" Kriti screamed, ducking behind Vardaan and Reet.

"Nobody is saving you today!" Ishita yelled, splashing a giant handful of haldi that completely missed Kriti and caught Vardaan right across his face and chest instead.

"Hey! Main toh innocent spectator tha!" Vardaan wiped his eyes, immediately grabbing a handful from the central table and throwing it right back at Ishita, only for it to hit Akshat square in the back.

Akshat froze, slowly turning around with a wicked smirk. "So it's war, huh?

In a matter of seconds, the peaceful, elegant traditional ritual dissolved into complete, unhinged mayhem. Marigold petals were flying through the air like confetti, bowls of yellow paste were being passed around like weapons, and the loud dhol beats suddenly turned into a full-on war anthem as the entire family launched into an all-out Haldi fight!

"Catch her, Saanvi!" Kriti yelled, ducking past Vardaan and darting around the flower pillars with surprising speed.

Ishita tried to turn in her heels to launch another handful of yellow paste, but both girls were far too quick for her. Kriti lunged forward, locking her arms tightly around Ishita from behind, pinning her wrists down while giggling hysterically.

"I got her! Saanvi, do it now!" Kriti screamed.

"Saanvi, don't you dare! Main tumhari badi behan hoon!" Ishita gasped out, trying to wriggle out of Kriti's grip while laughing so hard she could barely maintain her stern voice. "Kriti, chhodo mujhe! Main tum dono ko ghar se bahar nikal dungi!

Saanvi didn't care in the slightest. She marched right up with a mischievous grin, taking two giant handfuls of smooth haldi paste and lovingly, mercilessly slathering it all over Ishita's cheeks, nose, and neck until Ishita was completely painted in golden yellow.

Even though Ishita was the eldest and had always been like a warm, protective mother figure to both of them, in moments like this, those two treated her like their personal playground. All three sisters ended up collapsing into a pile of giggles, scolding each other, wiping haldi off their eyes, and throwing marigold petals right into each other's hair.

"Yehi seekha hai tum dono ne?!" Ishita wheezed out, finally breaking free and smearing a streak of haldi across Saanvi's forehead. "Badi behan ki koi izzat hi nahi hai iss ghar mein!"

"Izzat baad mein, Bhen Pehle enjoy karo!"

Saanvi squealed, ducking behind Aditi.

Speaking of Aditi-she was having the absolute time of her life. Standing safely near the lounge sofas with a glass of fresh thandai in hand, she was laughing uncontrollably at the chaos, recording everything on her phone.

Because Aditi was four months pregnant, she possessed the ultimate, unassailable immunity card. Nobody dared to throw haldi or crowd anywhere near her, allowing her to stand in her spotless pink outfit, egging everyone on like a royal spectator.

"Saanvi, aur lagao!" Aditi cheered, pointing her phone camera right at Ishita. "Ishita, subah toh bol rahi thi ki tum 20 minutes mein ready ho jaogi, ab dekho tumhara kya haal hua hai!"

"Aditi, tum bohot hass rahi ho na?" Ishita glared at her playfully, wiping paste off her chin with her sleeve. "Tumhare husband ko dekhna abhi kya karti hoon main!"

Before Veer could even process the threat, Ishita scooped up a fresh batch of haldi and marched straight toward him, leaving a trail of yellow footprints across the white marble terrace while the entire family lost their minds laughing.

"Pakdo usko ! Dulhe Raja ko bhaagne mat dena!" Vardaan yelled over the roaring dhol beats

Before Jay could even think about retreating off the wooden swing, Shiv and Veer charged forward like seasoned predators. Shiv grabbed Jay's arms from behind, while Veer locked his legs in place, pinning him down completely despite Jay's dramatic screams for mercy.

"Bhai! Save me! Avni, kuch toh bolo inko!" Jay yelled, thrashing around while Avni just sat on her sofa, sipping her drink and clapping in absolute delight.

"Koi nahi bachaega aaj tujhe, Dulhe Raja!" Vardaan declared with a wicked grin.

Ishita, who was still dripping in golden yellow from head to toe, didn't miss her golden opportunity. She grabbed a giant bucket overflowing with a thick, lukewarm mixture of haldi paste and water. With a triumphant war cry, she lifted the bucket and dumped the entire slushy, yellow splash right over Jay's head!

"BHABHI, NAHI!" Jay sputtered, gasping as the icy-cold yellow water drenched him completely from hair to chest.

To make matters even more unhinged, Shiv, Veer, and Vardaan didn't stop there. With practiced coordination, they grabbed the collar of Jay's yellow kurta and ripped it right down the middle-a classic, ruthless groom-haldi tradition. The fabric tore with a loud snap, leaving his bare chest exposed as the boys slathered thick, heavy layers of turmeric paste all over his arms, chest, and back.

"YEH RATHOR KHANDAAN KI TRADITION HAI!" Veer shouted, rubbing a giant handful of haldi into Jay's hair while Shiv smeared paste across his ribs.

The entire terrace was in absolute tears. Up on the raised covered pavilion, all the elders-Ram Papa, Lakhan Chacha, Siya Maa, and even the usually stern kaveri Bua-were holding their sides, watching the complete, chaotic madness unfold with endless laughter and smiles.

Ishita stood right beside Jay, her red chooda jingling as she splashed more yellow water on his face, laughing so hard her shoulders were shaking.

I leaned back against a marble pillar, crossing my arms over my chest, watching my wife completely rule the chaos. Her face was painted in bright golden turmeric, her wavy hair was messily pinned up, and her eyes were glowing with unfiltered, unadulterated pure happiness.

Then, suddenly, her brown eyes locked onto mine across the terrace.

A dangerous, mischievous smirk slowly broke across her yellow-stained face as she wiped a dripping handful of haldi onto her palm, taking one slow, deliberate step in my direction.

Before Ishita could make her triumphant march across the terrace to paint my face, Siya Maa stepped into her path, taking her by the hand to discuss some last-minute arrangements for the evening's Mehndi ceremony. Ishita paused, glancing back at me over her shoulder with a playful pout, holding her haldi-covered hands in mid-air.

The second Ishita's back was turned, Kriti and Saanvi seized their moment.

They slowly tiptoed over to where I was standing, holding small brass bowls filled with fresh turmeric. Both of them put on the most dramatic, wide-eyed puppy faces imaginable, lower lips pouting in synchronized exaggeration.

"Jiju... please?" Saanvi whispered, holding up her golden-stained palms.

"Hume bhi rasam karni hai, Jiju... sabne kar li," Kriti added, batting her eyelashes with hilarious desperation.

Ordinarily, a single sharp glare from me was enough to make full-grown board members tremble. But these were Ishita's little sisters-my saalis. I couldn't bring myself to say no to them, nor did I want to ruin their excitement.

I let out a soft sigh, resigning myself to my fate. I unclasped my watch, tucked it into my pocket, and slowly leaned down to their level so they could reach me properly.

"Teaser warning: agar tum dono ne mera kurta kharab kiya, toh main saari wedding shopping ki bill tumhare dhoondhe hue grooms par daal dunga," I warned smoothly in my low baritone.

Both girls squealed with joy, completely ignoring my threat, and gently applied a neat streak of haldi onto my jawline and behind my ears.

"Thank you, Jiju!" Saanvi cheered, while Kriti giggled, patting my shoulder before they both darted back toward the dance floor.

I straightened up to my full height, wiping a tiny speck of yellow from near my cheekbone. My eyes immediately searched the terrace for Ishita. She had just finished talking to Siya Maa and was turning around, holding a fresh bowl of haldi meant just for me.

She froze.

Her brown eyes landed on the yellow streaks already resting on my jawline. For a split second, her mischievous smile wavered. She quickly covered it up with a bright, joyful grin, walking over to me with her usual lighthearted energy.

"Oho! Prince of Rajasthan ka bhi inauguration ho gaya?" she teased, her silver anklets tinkling as she stopped in front of me.

She wouldn't say a word. She wasn't the type to throw a tantrum over something so small, and she certainly wouldn't be angry with her little sisters. But I knew my wife better than she knew herself. Beneath that beautiful, bright smile, I saw the subtle flicker in her eyes-the quiet, hidden disappointment of losing the chance to apply the very first stroke of haldi on her husband.

She wanted to be the first one to touch my skin today. And the realization hit me right in the chest, making me care far less about the crowd around us and far more about the quiet yearning in my Queen's heart.

Ishita gracefully hid every trace of that tiny sting behind her dazzling, royal smile. She would never bring it up in front of the elders or ruin the mood for Kriti and Saanvi. Instead, she naturally blended right back into the celebration, holding her head high like the Queen she is.

"Aao aao! Sab log center stage par aao!" Ahana shouted, waving the palace photographer over.

Before Ishita could even react, the cousins pulled both of us right into the middle of the framed floral backdrop. We were surrounded by a chaotic swarm of family-Jay dripping in yellow water, Akshat Bhai making funny faces, Kriti and Saanvi striking dramatic poses, and the elders standing proudly behind us.

Click! Click! Click!

The camera flashed relentlessly for ten minutes straight as we were pushed into dozens of group poses, candid family shots, and sibling photos.

The moment the photographer finally lowered his camera to check the battery, Ishita let out a dramatic, heartbroken sigh. She wiped a stray drop of haldi off her collarbone, looking down at her yellow-drenched silk saree and slightly tangled dark waves.

"Yrrr... tum sab photo bure ho!" she whined playfully, pouting at Ahana, Kriti, and Saanvi. "Mujhe apne original, flawless beauty look mein photo bhi leni thi! I spent so much time on my hair and jewelry, and now I look like a glowing yellow turmeric mango!"

The girls burst out laughing, completely unbothered by her adorable complaint.

"Bhabhi, yellow mango or not, aap abhi bhi sabse pyaari lag rahi ho!" Jay yelled from the swing, getting a warm laugh from the elders.

Ishita shook her head with a fake stern face, stepping away from the crowd to catch her breath. But as she moved toward the shadow of the terrace archway, I followed her every step.

My mind was still stuck on the look in her eyes from earlier-the quiet wish to be the one who marked my skin first. And if my Queen wanted her moment, I was going to give it to her, beauty look or not.

"Bas karo ab!" Bebe's loud, authoritative voice cut through the endless clicking of the camera shutter as she clapped her hands together. "Ho gaya photo session! Sab jao, freshen up ho jao, thoda rest karke change karke Mehndi ke liye time par niche aa jana. Phir se kehna na pade, samjhe sab?!"

"Ji Bebe!" the entire chorus of siblings and cousins sang out in unison, knowing better than to delay Bebe's orders.

Before anyone could disperse toward the elevators, Ishita's eyes widened with playful panic. "Arre Bebe! Aap toh reh hi gayi!"

She quickly scooped up a fresh, clean touch of fragrant haldi paste from an untouched bowl. Stepping gracefully across the scattered marigold petals, she gently applied a sweet, loving mark on Bebe's cheeks, kissing her forehead.

"Jeete raho, meri rani," Bebe smiled warmly, blessing her head.

Ishita then moved around the room with natural warmth and elegance, applying a touch of ritual turmeric to Choti Maa, Mummy, Lakhan Chacha, and all the elder relatives she knew so well, receiving endless hugs and blessings in return.

With the ceremony officially wrapped up, everyone began trickling down the grand staircase and elevators to head back to their respective suites.

Ishita carefully turned around, gathering the heavy, haldi-drenched fabric of her yellow saree in one hand so she wouldn't trip. The wet silk was heavy, and her high bow heels were slippery against the smooth marble floor. She took slow, cautious steps toward our master suite, making sure not to lose her balance.

I didn't say a word. I simply stayed half a step behind her, my large hands hovering just inches from her waist-ready to catch her in a heartbeat if her footing slipped for even a second. My eyes stayed locked on her radiant, yellow-stained profile, my chest tight with the quiet promise of what was about to happen once our bedroom door closed behind us.

๐Ÿ’– Ishita's Perspective

The moment the master suite door locked behind us, I let out a long, exhausted breath and walked straight into the attached marble bathroom. The heavy yellow paste had completely dried on my skin and hair, making my face feel completely tight.

"Uff... yeh poori dry ho gayi!" I complained, leaning over the marble vanity mirror to inspect the damage.

I heard the bathroom door click shut. I turned around to see Rudra locking it from the inside. Without saying a word, he turned on the tap, took a handful of fresh water, and deliberately washed off the small streaks of haldi that Kriti and Saanvi had applied on his jawline earlier.

I paused, watching him through the mirror. "Kya hua, Ru? Yeh kyun saaf kar rahe ho?"

Rudra wiped his face with a hand towel, his ocean-blue eyes meeting mine in the mirror with a quiet, intense focus. "Nothing. It's just... you didn't apply haldi on me today."

My lips parted slightly. A soft warmth spread through my chest as I realized why he had been so quiet since the terrace. I turned around to face him completely, resting my hands lightly on the marble counter behind me.

"Lagi toh hui hai," I teased softly, gesturing to his spotless, handsome face. "Aur kitni haldi chahiye aapko, Patidev?"

Instead of answering, Rudra took a slow, deliberate step toward me. The towering shadow of his 6'3" frame completely enveloped me, his gaze dropping down to my lips.

"No, no, Ru!" I gasped, placing both my hands flat against his chest to hold him back. "Aapka itna pyara cream silk kurta kharab ho jayega! Look at me, main poori haldi se bhari hui hoon!"

"Do you really think I care about a kurta, Janna?" he rumbled in his low, velvety baritone.

Before I could answer, his large hand wrapped around my waist, effortlessly pulling me flush against his broad chest. My heart did a familiar, wild flutter against my ribs.

"Kharab kar diya na mera poora?" I whispered, my voice trembling with soft affection as I looked up into his intense blue eyes.

Rudra didn't answer with words. He reached behind him, turning on the brass gold tap. He wet both of his large palms with warm water and brought them gently up to my face. With absolute tenderness, his thumbs gently caressed my cheeks, moistening the tight, dried turmeric paste, turning it back into a smooth, fragrant paste against my skin.

A soft gasp escaped my lips. I instantly understood what he was doing. My heart melted into absolute puddle for this ruthless, cold CEO who became so hopelessly soft just to make sure his wife got her special moment.

Without hesitation, I removed my high heels, stepping out of them completely.

Standing barefoot on the cold marble floor made me feel even smaller beside him, so I lifted my feet and stepped right onto the tops of his white leather shoes.

I wrapped both of my arms tightly around his neck, my fingers tangling in the soft hair at the nape of his neck.

"Aap bohot ziddi hain, Patidev," I murmured softly, my brown eyes locking onto his with pure love.

"Only for my Queen," he whispered back, his hands tightening possessively around my waist to hold my weight steady on his feet.

I leaned up, tilting my head, and pressed my soft, haldi-covered cheek directly against his clean, sharp cheekbone. I gently rubbed my cheek against his, smearing the smooth golden turmeric paste onto his skin, applying the very first real mark of haldi from my heart to his.

Rudra closed his eyes with a deep, satisfied breath, leaning into my touch. I shifted to the other side, slowly nuzzling my cheek against his jaw, painting his warm skin with our shared golden color until both of our faces were covered in the soft, sacred yellow glow.

"Ab satisfied ho gaye, Mr. Rathor?" I whispered near his ear, my breath warm against his skin as my lips brushed just below his earlobe.

Rudra opened his dark blue eyes, looking down at me with an unyielding, possessive warmth. He slid one hand up from my waist to cup the back of my neck, his thumb caressing my skin as he tilted my head back.

"Not even close, Janna," he murmured raspy against my lips, before closing the final distance between us for a slow, lingering, deeply romantic kiss that made the entire chaotic world outside disappear completely.
